Hammy’s maid, Endah, has gone back to Indonesia for 2 weeks and his dearest grandma is left in his care. Suddenly, 2 weeks feel like a year when such a huge responsibility is in your hands. If I felt that way, I wonder how much more stressed hammy can be, when he takes on the task of taking care of his beloved grandmother.
The first day went pretty ok, that’s because we are now at the third day, and I cannot stress any more how it gets progressively worse. So I can safely say that the first day was pretty good, despite us vacuuming the whole house, and doing the laundry. Minor hiccups include the colours of a batik dress running and turning the rest of the laundry pink. But at least the staining was even, and we laughed it off by saying that now everyone has new clothes!
Hammy made dinner. He chopped the ingredients, cooked and fried. I sat in the living room and kept an eye on his grandmother, my job is to follow her when she walks to the toilet, making sure that she doesn’t fall. Dinner was a simple meal of one corn soup, one vege, and a plum sauce pork. I’m so proud of hammy, it’s times like these I feel so fortunate to have him.
I washed the dishes, and mopped the kitchen floor, while hammy wiped the stove with Mr. Muscle.
Before Endah left, we were very worried about doing everything on our own, including keeping an eye on grandma 24/7. But it’s just gotta be a teamwork to get through 2 weeks without Endah. Now we know how important a domestic helper is!!
