[Beauty Review] Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50 PA+++

Remember when I shared the video on Magic Babe Ning’s levitation act?? Where she was levitating this really light product? No more guesses, let me reveal the answer!!

It is….

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence!!

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence review

This is a Number 1 sunscreen in Japan in 2011 and it was just launched on 12th March 2013 in Singapore. Really happy to get my hands on it before it was launched! I seriously don’t know what took it soooo long to come to Singapore.

I am a personal fan of Biore’s sunblock, and have been using their Perfect Face Milk since eons ago cuz of its mattify-ing effect. I was pretty reserved about this product, as I thought nothing could lure me away from my favourite Perfect Face MIlk.

Well, let’s see what it claims?

“High SPF and PA+++ provide long-lasting protection against skin-ageing UVA rays and skin-burning UVB rays.”

This is quite a no-brainer, it is a sunscreen after all, so it has to protect us from all that harmful rays. NEXT!

“Forget about the heavy, sticky feel of regular sunscreens! This water-rich UV essence feels surprisingly light and cool, like water on your skin, absorbing instantly for an invisible, weightless finish.”

A bit sounds too good to be true right… You’re telling me a sunblock can be like water on skin?? Sure or not? Women have long been complaining that sunblocks are too oily, too heavy, and too thick. I used to NOT apply sunblock cuz of that reason. Especially in our hot and humid weather, it doesn’t take very long to look like your face can fry egg.

So I took it to the test.

When I first squeezed the sunscreen out, I thought it was spoilt! Serious, cuz there were all these little cheese-like bits, I really thought it had gone bad. Until I googled and saw that it’s supposed to be like that. Haha so, don’t get a shock when you see it.

Those bits are actually Aqua Micro Capsules that contain UV block ingredients and they release moisture upon application.

I WAS PRETTY AMAZED. It really felt nothing like a regular sunscreen. The essence was easily absorbed as if it was a body lotion. No thickness, No residue, No oiliness. And what’s more interesting is that I noticed that my skin exuded a warm glow after application, it also felt smoother, as if I had applied a moisturiser instead of sunblock.  Must be the work of Hyaluronic Acid. I proceeded to apply all over my arms and legs since it can be used on the body too. Haha.

When applying on the face, I like that it smells of lemon cream in those cream biscuits. Nowadays beauty products are smelling way too much like food! But I’m not complaining. :) Turns out that the sunscreen contains Citrus extract (*orange, grapefruit and lemon) to keep skin hydrated and healthy.

Note: Apply evenly on face after moisturiser and before make up.

I would strongly recommend it as it is by far the lightest sunscreen I’ve tried, and instead of leaving an uncomfortable or milky layer, it left a smoothing and hydrating layer which I felt with my own hands.

Haha some things you just gotta try it to believe it.

Now I’m a convert from Perfect Face Milk to the UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence!! Some days I simply apply it without any make up and I’m good to go. Previously on lazy days, I use an umbrella when I don’t apply sunblock. Now I can walk bravely in the sun, knowing that I’m protected. :)

*Important: Remember to use a make up remover to remove the sunscreen effectively, otherwise you might have to deal with clogged pores.*
