By a stroke of luck, Hammy and I discovered this super delicious Beef Noodles hiding in a nondescript coffee shop at Tai Thong Crescent. Can’t believe we never knew its existence even though we would patronise the River South (Hoe Nam) Prawn Mee and Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang from the other two coffee shops in the area. Imagine our surprise when Zheng Yi Hainanese Beef Noodles turned out to be heavenly, certainly one of the best beef noodles we’ve eaten.
Love having a partner whom you can share food with. Because in this way, we were able to savour both the soup and dry versions. The soup was SO GOOD that we requested for one more bowl. What we do is, we eat half of each, then swop. Haha it may sound disgusting to you, but I tell you, the best way to eat Zheng Yi Hainanese Beef Noodles is to do it like us. Haha.
The beef is VERY tender and goes so well with the zesty lime chilli sauce. The heavily flavoured gravy is fragrant. Have a mouth of noodle, then a mouth of beef broth. Omg… Too good. I know we will be going back for more. At $5 a bowl, the price is a little more expensive than expected, but it’s totally worth it.
