ZoeReverie posts tell of the author’s contemplations about life, and are often written to inspire herself. How narcissistic. Lol.
Yep, it’s been a while since I managed to sit down and blog. There’s the nagging thought on my mind as to whether anyone would be interested in my life, and so blogging took a back seat. Haha. But yes, I do have very exciting news to share with you. It’s a pretty big milestone for me, and a huge step forward into unchartered territories.
Here’s the gist.
I’m giving sewing lessons.
I know right?
Last year I was subconsciously rejecting the idea because I never saw myself as a good presenter; to stand in front of a class to fluently give and teach. Then, there’s also a fear that I don’t have 100% knowledge on the empire of sewing. All the sewing terms, how to use various tools, endless sewing techniques and skills to make different products etc…! The extent of things you must know in the sewing world can be overwhelming, and I don’t think one can ever say that she has learned EVERYTHING she needs to in every aspect. There’s always something else to pick up, there’s always something else to learn.
That’s why I love it.
And that’s also how I found the courage to teach, because I realised that I know enough – substantially more than the layman. That’s enough reason for me to share, don’t you think? :)
Plus, it’s vastly different when you’re sharing about something you’re passionate about. There’s no need for memorising, no need for rehashing, as the information just comes naturally.

So, I started home-based sewing workshops in April…
… and have been kept excited ever since! The response has been good so far, with clients wanting to book group sewing parties to enjoy a fun family activity together with their friends and children. But mostly, I teach ladies who are kind to welcome me into their homes for a good sewing experience.
For me, I am definitely learning a lot as well, and to witness the happiness of my students is the best reward.
If you haven’t ever experienced the joy of making something with your own hands, you are missing out!! Many of my students are complete beginners and were able to walk away with a useful skill and product that they had made from scratch. Some continued to explore their passion for sewing and went on to sew many other things like pouches, tote bags, etc.. and I am so proud of them!! =D
Haha I was glad to save several sewing machines from being kept in storage forever, it’s been like a “mini side mission”.

More workshops are coming! How to sign up?
I’ll be rolling out many different sewing workshops in the coming months. There’ll be workshops suitable for children (age 10 onwards), workshops that cater to a more advanced level of projects like messenger bags, backpacks etc.. The possibilities are endless! To stay in the loop, you can join our Beary Naise mailing list where we will release details periodically.
If you’re thinking of hosting a sewing party with your friends and family for the June holidays, or simply looking to try something new, do book a sewing lesson and we’ll take it from there! :)
That’s all for now guys, and I am full of thanks. <3
