Retro Elegance // Twist Lock Yellow Tan Backpack from Mizzue

Hi ladies,

Thanks for checking out my latest fashion post on the blog. I’m featuring the Tania Isacson Yellow Tan Backpack that Mizzue sent over last month. I have been using this cute backpack for sourcing trips, days when I need my hands to be free; and getting to know its beauty.

Its twist lock front feature is little reminiscent of a Hermes’ Birkin bag, which also functions as a drawstring that pulls and secures the bag opening together. I’m not denying, the twist lock sealed the deal for me when deciding because it is so classy and elegant.

On the other hand, it can get a little difficult to close the bag when the bag is filled with items, as I have to pull both straps and aim for the twist to lock the straps in place.

I selected the bag in Yellow Tan colour after consideration that I am usually in earthy colours, and a bright tan backpack would compliment my outfits. This backpack is cheery, outstanding, and eye-catching in an instant.

It is well-made in smooth, luxurious PU leather, and finished with beautiful neat stitches. There were no loose ends and even stitches in the inner lining was nicely finished. There are several slip compartments and a zippered pocket within the bag that allows for keys, personal items, and phone.

I have personalised my Mizzue bag by hanging my favourite Lip Balm Holder made by yours truly on the side. This makes it extremely easy for me to reach out for my lip balm during the day.

It is hard to find a backpack designed so fashionably made in buttery PU leather. I love its subtle star-shaped silhouette that gives it a more organic look (although I think you can tuck the sides in and the whole bag would just be rectangular).

Dakota Crescent // A Peek into one of Singapore’s oldest Neighbourhoods

The photos for this post were taken at Dakota Crescent, one of Singapore’s oldest public housing and neighbourhoods. I’m sure many photography professionals and enthusiasts have combed this place to bits to capture its last moments before it gets torn down. For Hammy and I, we too went for a photo-walk to this quaint deserted place.

The elderly residents have since moved to newly-built, tall HDB flats nearby. I’m not sure how they feel about moving away from the place they might have lived for over half of their lives, but I sure feel a tinge of sadness that such a beautiful and special neighbourhood is going to be torn down soon. As for kampong spirit, even though the residents have moved to a new place, it is still evident in friendly gatherings at the void decks of the new HDB blocks. :)

Thank you Mizzue for this collaboration!
