Hello guys! I’m back with the spotlight on Singapore’s craft scene after a short hiatus on the blog. Yes, I’ve been busy immersing myself in the very melting pot of beautiful experiences and vibrant arts and crafts on our sunny island! This time, the light shines on Etsy Craft Party 2016 – Print By Hands, an event backed by Etsy itself. Organised by 3 vivacious sisters from Simply For Love, who are also team captains for Etsy Craftivist SG team in Singapore, the event saw close to 80 participants on a certain magical Saturday afternoon.
Every year, Etsy encourages and empowers teams worldwide to host and organise creative events to engage the local community in various types of arts and crafts; be it learning a new skill, having a potluck party, or organising a craft swap session. Anything goes! Last year, Etsy provided a theme – Kaleidoscope: Paper Taking Shape, but this year, it was open-ended, and it was decided that this year’s theme shall be Print by Hands! For venue, we partnered with The Art Faculty by Pathlight, a sprawling art-retail-cafe at The Enabling Village, and had the opportunity to introduce the artworks and handicrafts of autistic children to our participants too.
There were 4 different activities that participants could try their hands on:
- Batik Painting
- Gelli Printing
- Rolling Pin Printing
- Screen Printing
Judging by the number of smiles captured that day, I can only conclude that the participants really enjoyed themselves! Goodie bags for the first 50 participants and 5 grand prizes were given out that day, sponsorship courtesy of many local indie businesses.
Thank you to all participants who came down that day and spent a Saturday with us. We hope you had fun and picked up a new skill as well! :D
Here I am receiving a token of appreciation for being part of the organising team! It means so much to me to receive a certificate of appreciation from my team captains and Etsy Admin Australia! Deepest thanks for this opportunity :D
