I’m a contact lens wearer, yet I’ve never tried to venture out from my usual monthly lenses due to two reasons:
1. My degree is very high, 750 for left and 700 for right. I’m practically blind without glasses or contact lenses. :( Not something that I’m proud of.
2. I have Astigmatism. My eyes “cannot focus a point object into a sharp focused image on the retina (Wikipedia)”, which leads to blurry images especially when it comes to numbers and letters. For e.g. I would see 8 instead of 6..
Thanks to Cozycot, I really took a big step to try coloured lenses for the very first time! I was sponsored a 10-day trial of Freshkon® Alluring Eyes 1-Day lenses. I was given a choice of 4 shades and I thought it would be nice to have Grey eyes for once. Cuz my eyes are dark brown, and I didn’t want to take the either blacks.
You can definitely see an enlargement of my irises, making it more dolly-like. I really really like the effect and I feel that it makes me look more youthful! And do you know why babies and toddlers appear cute to us? It is partly due to the size of eyes relative to the size of the face. The size of our eyes and irises are fixed from birth, which is why a baby’s eyes appear larger and more endearing. As we grow bigger, our face gets bigger, and in relative, our eyes and irises appear smaller.
Here’re two babies to confirm that. Hahaha. Source.
So I guess enlarging our irises with cosmetic lenses is a way to make us grown women look more attractive? I can’t deny that. Hiak hiak.
My thoughts on the FreshKon® Alluring Eyes 1-Day lenses
Comfort level 6/10
At first when I put them on, I found that they felt just like my usual soft-lenses. They are certainly bigger in size, but I didn’t find that an issue. I could sort of see the grey colour print from the sides of my pupils, like when I shift my eyeballs, I can see some grey patches peeking from the sides (is this normal with coloured lenses?). Anyhow, I love being able to just trash the lenses after a day’s wear instead of having to prepare lens solution, wash, and keep.. No infection, no irritation experienced. :)
Vision Capabilities 4/10
The lenses are in my degree, but because it didn’t correct my astigmatism, I found it very uncomfortable as my eyes couldn’t focus. Disclaimer: this is entirely my own problem as I suffer from astig. But what I’m saying that this might not be the best choice for astig sufferers like me. I get a headache because my eyes keep trying their best to focus.
I love how it makes my eyes look bigger and brighter!! Although the grey couldn’t really be seen, but it did make my eyes appear slightly lighter in colour and more reflective, giving a stars-in-your-eyes look. Haha. I think it would be pretty hard for people with dark brown eyes to get light coloured eyes with cosmetic lens as the shade would definitely be drowned out.
Overall: I love the lenses (super vain), but I don’t think I can survive a day outside with them because I might run for the wrong bus.. :(
Retail: $56 for 30 pieces (15 pairs)
